Released to mark 50 years of the Padrón family in the cigar business, this limited anniversary cigar is designed to showcase the depth, strength and refinement of Nicaraguan tobacco in a slightly shorter format than usual.

The cigar itself feels tightly constructed. A dark, slightly oily maduro wrapper covers a firm box pressed body, with the familiar Padrón density that you would expect from a cigar that costs 60 odd quid.

From the start, the draw is excellent and produces a generous volume of smoke. Burn performance is steady and reliable. It’s an easy cigar to smoke in terms of construction, letting the flavour take centre stage, rather than the management.

Flavour opens with a rich combination of dark chocolate, espresso coffee and leather. There’s an immediate warmth to it, supported by a noticeable cinnamon spice that sits slightly higher than in many other Padrón lines. Cinnamon and earthy undertones begin to appear early, giving the profile a layered, baking spice character.

As it moves into the middle section, the spice begins to soften while the deeper core flavours arrive. Coffee and cocoa become more dominant, with a gentle sweetness developing on the finish that leans towards chocolate and cinnamon. The strength builds gradually, moving firmly into medium-full territory.

The final third brings everything together more clearly. Dark cocoa, leather and roasted coffee sit at the forefront, while the sweeter notes become more pronounced, adding a rounded, dessertey edge.

What stands out most is the balance between richness and smoothness. Despite the power behind it, the cigar remains structured and composed, never drifting into harshness or imbalance.

Overall, this is a focused, celebratory release that delivers classic Padrón depth in a more concentrated format. Rich, complex and confidently built, it feels like a fitting tribute to a long-standing family legacy.

The Pipe Professor gave it a 4/5 ranking, and he's a professor!
